Introduction Comparison has always been part of human nature. Long before the internet existed, people naturally measured their lives against those around them. Farmers compared the size of their harvests with their neighbours. Students compared their grades with classmates. Workers compared salaries, promotions, and achievements with colleagues. Families compared their homes and lifestyles with those living nearby. In many ways, comparison served a useful purpose. It helped people understand where they stood, inspired them to improve, and motivated them to work toward better opportunities. Today, however, comparison has become something entirely different.
